How To Paint Horus Heresy Alpha Legion

Hey guys!
I'chiliad currently working on a Heresy-era Blastoff Legion army simply I'm struggling on how to paint them. I've tried virtually 3 different methods that I don't quite like fully (boltgun metal washed progressively with asurman blue and thraka green, orkhide shade layered with scaly green then militarist turquoise and glazed with leviathan purple, necron abyss highlighted upwardly to snot light-green) every bit they oasis't quite replicated the Blastoff Legion scheme from the Horus Heresy books from Forge World. I've yet to try using the Tamiya clear method just I was wondering in the concurrently if anyone has had any luck recreating the scheme with matt paints instead of metallics?
If anyone has whatsoever pictures to share they would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

My color recipe:
Hydra Blue:
1) Black Primer
2) Ironbreaker over it
3) Highlites with Runefang Steel
4) layers of Guilliman Blue until you have the correct, strong bluish tone
v) get over some of the highlites with very thined dark-green glaze
six) final layer with Guilliman Blue over it

Thank you for the quick responses, the simply biggy is that I'chiliad looking for a not-metallic scheme (I do not enjoy painting metals) that replicates the Forge World bluish-into-greenish scheme

The March of the Legions Alpha Legion Thread has a Bunch of non-Metallic Alphas washed by some of the best painters we accept on the boards; you could always PM them for their recipe. I doubt any of them would say no.

Maybe brand a shortcut past using a coloured metallic "phasing" paint? This is a inexpensive and squeamish acryllic pigment I've just bought today and brought the pics to B&C to share with the loyal Alpha Legion warriors.

Would you be able to put some on a Mini? Because that stuff looks amazeballs but if it gets wonky in one case on a Marine...well...aye..

I've put it on swords and it withal looks amazeballs. Also put pearlescent white on a sword and done with Cassandora. Also awesomesauce.
Just gotta gloss varnish information technology afterwards (it'due south matte after the wash on pearl and it's not water-resistant after information technology dries). Of course matte or satin varnish it on AL armour if you prefer, simply ensure to protect it from h2o and all will be fine.

I've put it on swords and it still looks amazeballs. Also put pearlescent white on a sword and washed with Cassandora. As well awesomesauce.

I painted upwards some Alpha Legion examination models a while back, they came out pretty well IMHO. I did the following:
Prime Chaos Black
Heavy Drybrush Runefang Steel
Watered downward wash of Vallejo Clear Blue beyond entire model
The side by side part is a lilliputian more personal taste... I used Vallejo Clear Green, watered down like the blue, and applied it to the upper 25% of all armor pieces, dragging upwardly. Once this started to dry, I so used Vallejo bluish again, starting at the line where I practical the green, and drag down. Each time I applied green (as it's lighter), I applied it slightly lower to achieve a good blend. It may take multiple layers, but I was able to successfully get the effect of colour changing armor. It's fairly simple, just fourth dimension consuming.

Artist supply shop, inquire for pentart acryllics or equivalent.
If at that place's a pearl white version of that stuff, I might need to spend some cash....
Yep, there is, I got it. Expect to base with something like Rakarth Flesh, and then layer with Pallid Wych, then use this. It does not coat underlying color well, the white pearl, only otherwise the effect is crawly.

Something similar the Vallejo Metallic Medium might work better for this, where y'all could either mix the medium with whatever color yous want, or castor it on after you've already put downwards the base color.

^^ That's totes what I've been playing around with for a couple weeks now. Vallejo metallic medium is super entertaining.
This guy's greave is painted with Vallejo metal mixed with different levels of Vallejo blues for highlights.
